1/19/99: Ruth went off with Kathy to ʻĪao Valley today. Kathy runs a daycare center and it is field trip day… Mom went shopping, dad did his gardening, and I tried to catch up on writing.
NOTE: The photo above shows ʻĪao Needle, the rock formation at the heart a visit to historic ʻĪao Valley. King Kamehameha I fought a battle here that consolidated the Hawai’ian islands into a single kingdom. This is one of the spots that we visit every time we go home to Maui, and I took this photo in 2004.
