Into Central Java

12/26/98: Our driver was 30 minutes early, so we jumped out of bed at 3:30am, grabbed our bags, and were off to Surabaya to catch a train to Yogyakarta, in central Java… We had a lot of space in the van and napped on the 2 hour ride… Made the train without a problem…

NOTE: The photo above, by Fahrul Razi on Unsplash, shows a sunrise from Prau, from which on can see two volcanoes of Central Java: Sumbing and Sindoro, in the distance.

 

The google maps below shows a view of the island of Java in Indonesia. The country’s capital, Jakarta, is on the far north west of the island, while the locations that we visited (Malang, Mount Bromo, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Borobodur) are in central and east Java.
