Almost Kissed By A Tapir

Posted on November 8, 2023

11/8/98: Church worship services are in the evening here, so, we wisited the Chiang Mai Zoo this morning… Seemed to be feeding time at all the exhibits during our visit… Two pythons eating quails, hippos eating veggies and huge melons, so close that we could almost touch them… But there was no way I was putting my hand or arm anywhere near those massive jaws and tusks… The otter exhibit was the most fun, because they are so playful… After the zoo, we all headed to Terry and Di’s home for “afternoon tea,” which really meant just tea in this case (see above discussion on the meaning of “tea” on my post from 10/31/98)… It was served some “biscuits.” Um, that’s “cookies” for all of us non-British (or British Commonwealth country) English speakers… Then we all headed to Church in the early evening…

NOTE: The photo above shows me posing as a tiger at the Chianng Mai Zoo.

The hippos were in a very large enclosure, but the zoo visitors could walk on an elevated platform that allowed them to get close enough to drop vegetables and melons into their mouths at feeding time.
I almost got kissed by a tapir in the Chiang Mai Zoo.
